Translation of the text on the monument:
JORIS-PELLE
At this site was the Finn settlement Joris. Here Per "Joris-Pelle" Andersson was born on December 5, 1817. Joris-Pelle was the leader of a group of about 100 people who emigrated to America in 1850. He and his family together with three other families were the founders of the first settlement at Chisago Lake in Minnesota in 1851. Joris-Pelle died in 1881 in Cambridge, Minnesota.
Relatives erected this stone in the year 2000 at the 150th anniversary of the emigration.
